Pier 17 and the South Street Seaport Museum

These pictures where taken on or near Pier 17 and the South Street Seaport Museum. Pier 17 as seen on the left and below, has been restored and turned into a mall named South Street Seaport. It features (tourist-) shops and on the top floor a variety of restaurants.
In the picture on the right you can see the 1908 lightship Ambrose in front of Pier 17. The lightship is one of the museum vessels you can visit. Below you see a picture taken from Pier 17 towards Pier 16 where the museum vessels are moored.

The dark colored, four-masted bark on the back of the picture is the Peking (1911). On the right the lighthouse Ambrose and the 1930 tugboat W.O. Decker. Behind the ships are the tall buildings of the financial center of southern Manhattan. Below are some of the ships in more detail.
The picture on the right shows the Wavertree, a three-masted tall ship from 1885. Behind it you see the masts of the Peking and the roof of the South Street Seaport mall on Pier 17. In the lower right corner of the picture you can see one of the supports of the Brooklyn Bridge.
This picture was taken from the Peking and shows part of the Wavertree. Behind it is the East River. From Pier 16 you might want to take a tour on the East River and the Hudson River around Manhattan on the Circle Line.You can also go to their main site at Pier 83 near the Intrepid.
